I was wondering if anyone had any information on the plovers. I called the ranger station to try and get a feel for if/when they hatched, how long after the hatch until they leave the nest etc.

I asked "Did the plovers hatch?" and was told "the restriction went up about 3 weeks ago." I was then told, "we just don't know when they're going to move." Shen then said, "we don't know how much longer the restriction will be up." headscratch.gif

If you're confused I understand...I think the 5 minutes of silence after she spoke (while I tried to comprehend what was being said) followed by my, "OK" sums up my confusion.

The plovers began mating behavior 2 weeks early and thats why the restrictions went up early (thats what I was told). last year the chicks hatched on 6-17 and a full closure was enforced soon after.

I was hoping that since the plovers displayed early mating behavior, the chicks would have already hatched, and maybe, just maybe the little ones moved west, away from the shoreline.

So I ask, does anyone know the status of the plovers?
