To save space, I travel 4 hours to get to the big waters at jones beach, so if I am lucky to get a striper, can I fillet it and put it in the cooler? or is this a no no headscratch.gif thanks in advance

Most places do not allow this. It is a no-no.

In Massachusetts the regulations say you have to keep the fish intact. You also can not leave it in the water alive on a stringer.

If stopped, the fish cops will want to measure. In Ma. stripers must be a minimum of 28" to keep.

View PostConnecticut allows you to do that but you can't discard the carcuss until you get home.

unless the fillet is big enough lenght to be legal(28in in CT) not likely though since there are no fish in CT. biggrin.gif
