Finding a replacement spool

Rate this topic

I have an off brand reel that doesn't have replacement spools for sale anywhere. It's a pretty solid great reel that was a generous gift from an SOL member and I'd love to continue using it.

Now here's my question, out of so many reels out there in the world, would I be able to find a spool from another brand that will fit? If so is there anyone who could help me out with finding one? I have a micrometer and can take exact measurements of every part of the spool.

What brand is it ?? If you are in Deltona there is a small shop in Deland by the airport that has thousands of parts reels in crates , you could probably find a spool there . The Fisherman , 813A Flightline Blvd #6 , Deland

Here's some measurements in case there is someone out there who's an expert on this stuff smile.gif

Other measurements include:

Drag washers: .95" diameter

Bottom of drag knob: .8" diameter

Depth of drag cavity: .5"

Width of drag washers stacked .25"

I'm assuming any similar sized drag setup would work fine as long as the drag washers are bigger than the bottom of the drag knob and the shaft isn't too long or short.

Have you considered carrying a small packaging spool (like the 150yd spools from power pro)of line that you can put on your reel if necessary? The water proof reels charge hundreds of dollars for an extra spool so many people use that as an alternative.

The factories that produce off-brand reels sell the same or similar reels with various brand names, including the budget models of some name-brand companies. Post a photo and see if anyone recognizes it as another brand.

Found their website, I duno how I didn't stumble on it sooner.

If you google "yzfishingsport" it's the first one, Chinese company smile.gif.

Under fishing reels, the one i have is the top left, FL model, f70L to be exact.

I sent them an email asking if there's a way to order a replacement spool.

Hopefully my English was simple enough wink.gif
