Because here in America, we don't give up( on taking away your liberties). Here in America, we(will create government mandates to) look out for each other. Here in America, we help each other get ahead(by extracting money at the point of a gun from those who actually do the work). Here in America, we can meet any challenge(that is politically expedient). Here in America we can seize any moment(and your posessions). We can seize this moment and we can make this century another great American century(if it's OK with our Chinese masters).

No, that's what your interpretation is, he didn't say that at all. The Patriot Act under Bush began taking away our liberties. We've had mandates all along like car and hoe insurance, like Mitt's healthcare on MA. If making Millions of $$ and paying less than or getting tax breaks or loopholes that the average American can't who do work, then that's inequality. Like going to the moon, we can meet any challenge. Eminent domain was around way before Obama and the banks who are taking things. And, we've been indebted way before Obama was president to China, meaning two wars and way before that.

It's just a matter of seeing through the reality historically and factually.

 

Why on Earth would you support someone who has made everyone of the perceived injustices you cited above worse?

If Obama wins, it is an indication that our soul as a country and what makes us unique is gone.

So what is your alternative to his vision above ? Everyone work against one another ? He's describing the exact neighborhood I grew up in. The problem is we're too many people concentrated in small spaces. All races and religions are packed into towns and we have a different view of the country we lived in 50 years ago.

That's what I feel is one of the problems with people. Just sayin....

 

Obama's comments are fine... it is his perception that seems off. The problem is that he sees "government" and "America" as being one in the same. America is not its' government. America at its' best is personal and economic freedom to succeed.

America is not its' government.

 

Then why don't the people say when we can go to war and not the government FOR the PEOPLE and BY the PEOPLE ?

 

Isn't America it's people ?

 

 

We need only read the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution to understand why a government is needed: "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." We need government to keep the territory held together (more perfect union). We need government to protect us from law breakers (establish justice). We need government to keep our day-to-day lives stable and safe (domestic tranquility). We need government to protect us from foreign invasions (provide for the common defense). We need government to help the exchange of money, goods, and trade with other countries (promote the general welfare). The purpose of a government is to provide for the safety and protection of the citizens. It protects the nation from foreign and domestic enemies and violence, provides services like post office, fire protection, state and local police, armed forces, and regulates things like interstate commerce and trade with other nations. A government also has the obligation to protect the rights of the citizens, though not all governments do that. A national government must protect the rights of citizens and of states' rights. The government's functions are to provide social order, security, public services, and economic systems for the citizens.

 

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I wonder why the other side wants the opposite ? And they call him a neo-Marxist ? :laugh:
