Enjoy it while it lasts...

If the oil spill keeps going and it hits that current sending it to the Atlantic Ocean then a hurricane or tropical storm blows it to us then the Stripers will be just a memory.

Fish can't take oil in thier gills.

stripers are on the decline already - i've seen less and less if the younger class of stripers showing over the past couple of years, and i think we'll be seeing some strict revisions in the next few years. hopefullly, management doesn't wait until a collapse. yes, big fish will be making headlines as always; but without the young, we'll be talking about the good old days before you know it

View Postyeah but 2012 isnt that far off anyway

A classic example of the "Ostrich hiding it's head in the sand" syndrome.

Oh, they'll take care of it. We're too far away...

The plankton may be killed

then the plankton feeding baitfish will die

then the crabs will die

the the fish we cherish will die.

Where they gonna go?

All your nice fishing rods and reels, boats, lures, will all be useless.

There will be no bait for bait shops to sell except for freshwater bait.

The fish won't be there anyway.

So what are YOU doing about it.Besides post some doom and gloom on the internet.

Did you call your congressmen to see what he was doing?

Perhaps conger up a trip to the gulf, swim 5,000 FT down and cap it yourself..?

Sure it is upsetting to me.Tough to see the photo's of them marshes in LA all covered in the crude.I am as guilty as anyone else.Totally consumed in trying to grind out a living..I'm having a hard enough time with that these days.

Besides as far As I know there is nothing I can do about..

If what you describe happens we will learn our lesson the hard way.

Be prepared to spend 2,000 a month to heat your house, and 50 dollars a gallon for gas...Might not be the real difference from production minus offshore fuel. You can bet the oil companies will use the lack of production to raise the prices..

Win Win..

We MAY not see it reach here or it MAY have minimal effects if they can shut it off SOON. But I don't think they can SHUT IT OFF SOON. I'm not that naiive to believe that we will not be affected. We are all affected one way or another allready. Only thing remaining is to keep the adverse effects to as much of a minimum as possible.

In this video, Oceanographer Cousteau ( a relative of the famous Cousteau) dives into the gulf oil spil/chemical dispersant mix

http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=10735329

after the dive he mentions how the dispersant may actually make it MUCH MORE POSSIBLE to spreaad out of the region and into the major ocean currents.....in short the oil/chem dispersant mix may reach our areas and we will never even see it on the surface, it will just be under the surface killing plankton, coating fish eggs and gills....etc

truly interesting and DISTURBING video
