Looking for a quote: Stages in a fisherman's career

Search tool drew blank. I'm looking for a quote about stages in our development as fishermen. Something like this:

First, you want to catch a fish

Then you want to catch a lot of fish

Then you want to catch a really big fish

Etc.

Where does it go from there? Anyone remember? Thanks in advance.

According to Larry Dahlberg

1- I want to catch a fish

2- I want to catch a big fish

3- I want to catch a limit

4- I want to catch them the way I want to catch them

May have 2 and 3 reversed.

The engagement ring.

The wedding ring.

The suffering.

Wait a minuite....that's Marrige....Sorry.

Fishing....Hmmm.

First you buy the cheap stuff and don't catch fish.

Then you buy the better stuff and don't catch fish.

Then you buy the expensive stuff and catch 1 fish.

Then you sell the expensive stuff, buy the cheaper stuff again and learn how to catch fish.

Maybe that's it.

HAHA....That is so true. This even applies to many other hobbies. You can have the best gear in the world, but you need to know the fundamentals!

The five stages in a fisherman's life.....

1) You want to catch a fish, ANY fish.

2) You want to catch a LOT of fish.

3) You only want to catch BIG fish.

4) You only want to catch DIFFICULT fish (like a Permit on a fly.)

5) You want to teach OTHERS what you have learned.

You don't necessarily go through all five stages. I'm still in stage 2!
