What is the best way to clean a mahogany deck? It is weathered and the owner wants to put a sealer on it. Should it be pre-treated with something and then powerwashed?

ggod luck, whatever you clean it with and what ever you treat it with you can tell the homeowner he will have to do it every year, I have IPE on my front steps and I recoat it every year, luckily there not that big to do,

Was it ever sealed and if so with what product? If you do not know if it was ever sealed you need to strip the deck to be sure what you are dealing with.

If you are sure it was never sealed then you can clean it with a deck brightener and power wash. Ready Seal would be product of choice. Other alternatives are Wood Tux or Armstrong Clark.

Either of the above will last much longer than one year.

If you want a referral to do the job let me know.

Thanks for the reply. Deck was never sealed. I'm going to power wash but was wondering if it should be pre-treated. The job is for a family member and she already bought the sealer. I'm not sure what she got.
