4-rod rack question for GMC Sierra 2009

8 posts in this topic

Doesn't have a front hitch.

Lots of Plastic that I can see.

Is there any way or preferred way to get a 4-rod holder on a GMC 2009 1500 sierra without going the hitch route and still have it stable?

View PostDraw-Tite PN 65052 for a front hitch other that you need to make a custom mount to your tow hooks

Thanks TG,

I'm new to this and plan on getting the truck ready as a buggy.

If I went custom with the trailer hooks, if ever stuck ???? would I be sorry?

Guessing better of with the drawtight? Any good suppliers?

Is there a good 4 rod up close to the grill holder you'd recommend? No Cooler.

I'm hoping to get through the carwash smile.gif

Thanks for the advice and sorry for all the questions!

I think there is one that mounts to your license plate bracket not sure as for a local

supplier for your area not sure look for a place that is Draw-Tite certified like

we are or a place that deals with Cequent Towing Products (Draw-Tites parent company) I think if you go to http://www.draw-tite.com/ they have a

dealer locator BUT WHAT EVER YOU DO DO NOT GO TO U-HAUL! most of their installers don't know what they're doing if I had 1/2 a penny every time I had to fix something from them I would have my own fleet of fishing vessels lol

I want something fairly sturdy.

Saw a plate mounted one once, crawled under and my plates on the 2009 are just screws in a plastic shell. Was thinking about mounting some plywood behind it to distribute the stress but feel that will be a recipe for disaster cwm31.gif

I'm guessing hitch and then a hitch mounted holder ?

Put the front hitch on and forget about it. If you have a back hitch also, get one of those hooks that inserts into teh receiver. You can be towed out from either direction.

The front hitch also allwos for reacks and cooler installations. Do it right the first time.

Smart.

Never thought of a hook for the rear.
