pikie vs danny

Pikies and dannys are very different plugs - the lip size, shape, angle, and position, along with the weight location, the shape of the plug, and other factors make them behave very differently. Most apparent is the swimming motion - a pikie tends to pivot almost on its head, kicking its tail back and forth behind it while a danny tends to pivot somewhere near its center, causing it to swim in an S-shaped path.

They don't both necessarily swim on top either. Most dannies and most pikies can be tuned to swim at a variety of depths, from right on top to well subsurface. Yes, sometimes you want a pikie subsurface, sometimes you don't - it depends on what the fish want.
