Mounting your prize ...

who's done enough of this to know when they mount the original and when they do fiberglass?

If you get fiberglass ... don't you give them the measurements and weight and a couple of pic's and they then create a 'copy' from fiberglass?

If so, you could release that 'trophy' - right?

Correct.

Skin mounts can look a lot better than fiberglass but I have one Cuda that looks great, one Permit that looks like chit. My skin mounted Steelhead is 15 yrs old and looking awesome to this day.

I had a fiberglass mount done in 1990 by the late great Wally Brown of Falmouth Ma. and he took a cast, or mold, of the fish itself and made the mount to the exact dim. Of course the fish had to be killed. Looks as good as the day he did it. A lot has to do with the artistic talent of the person doing the job though. Paul
