MARYLAND OFFICIALS POINSON EXOTIC SNAKEHEADS

The saga of Maryland's northern snakehead fish appears to be wrapping up as biologists have applied rotenone to

the Crofton-area pond where they were found earlier this year.

Officials hope this prevents the spread of the exotic predators, which are native to the Yangtze River in China.

Conservation department personnel had netted more than 120 dead or dying snakeheads as of last week.

Rotenone is a plant-derived chemical that causes fish to suffocate.

So is this the end of the saga "snakehead"?

Not really sure. They did find one in Baltimore at the inner harbor recently.I dont think this story is done yet.

they are now able to live in the salt? Is there a link to confirm this?

I dont think they are living in the salt.I read this in the Baltimore Sun about a week or so ago and they said the fish was dying at the time it was discovered. They think someone had recently dumped it in the harbor.
