Teacher's Experiment

The priniples of Socialism at work.

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before,

but had recently failed an entire class.

That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.

The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D!

No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

Well made point. Who said teachers don't do their job anymore? Were the experiment to continue, there would no longer be motivation to learn or to teach. Great post. Thanks.

View Postit could not be simpler,

and simple people probably think it makes a good point,

people WITH firing synapse might wonder how that grading system equates to socialism.

When someone can't understand something complicated you keep making it simpler until they understand. When the problem is reduced to it's most basic form and can be simplified no further, the people that remain confused get an F.

the grading system you are describing is the ULTIMATE form of Communism.

to pretend that socialism in America is anywhere NEAR that is just a lie.

To pretend that the grading system in this moral is what Obama or any mainstream democrat wants is a lie.

So what is gained by creating a strawman and asserting that it's what the OTHER guy wants?

why not win an intellectual argument on reality, vs. a fraudulent scenerio?

many government agencies, are run with the same concept - really not much reward - NYC Transit comes to mind as an "outsider" who came from the private sector, to work for them described the agency to me.

Because of the "socialist mindset" of the agency, serving the public is usually at the bottom of the list of reasons to take or not take action, and maintaining status quo is paramount.

This might be the case as there is a general belief that other people (ie tax dollars) will continue to their paychecks and pension checks indefinitely.

Honestly, That just wouldn't work for any partisan, Dem or Repub......

John

When reality is too complicated for students to understand, teachers create a simplified scenario that highlights the same priciples without all the clutter. This is not a new concept.

actually it could.

in true capitalism the kids would be charged entry to the classroom, metered on their use of light, heat, cooling and air, and then be left to it.

RIIIIIIIIIIIGHT,

1. Did this really happen? or is this just a story created to tell a moralistic tale? is this really a second generation dumb down for people who don't understand that communism is bad?

2. why not be honest and just teach the lesson as to the evils of COMMUNISM and not Socialism?

in true socialism groups of students might be formed, and graded according to how much work they put in. So their grades might be impacted by those who did not work, but the grades would not be the same within the group.

The next step in the class experiment;

The teacher starts using a whip to force achievement. The ones who used to study realise that by studying they will get fewer lashes, and that some can rise to the position of assistant whip-master. The ones who did not study accept the whip as a burden to be carried in order to be fed & cared for, by the rest of the group. The effort needed to rise to assistant whip-master is greater than enduring the whipping.

You might be surprised......For many people once you head in that direction they see Communism and Socialism as the same thing. They don't really know the difference.
