Which will catch more?

Given your experience, which color do you think will catch more stripers?

My thinking is to do some work on the white one to make it look as much like a bunker as possible. Paint white over the yellow line on the bottom, pop the eyes off and carefully make the head reflective silver, put bunker spots down the sides, replace the eyes and cover with a light coat of envirotex or clear gloss enamel.

vs

Just buy the Yellow/Chartreuce version and fish it.

Is schoolbus a big producer on your beach? If so go with the 2nd one, if not go with the top one. Though the chartruese on the belly is kinda weird, I'd remove it if you can.

The way i look at it, this is a reaction bait (as are most others). I would think that the yellow would show up better in the water. Then again, I'm not a fish.

I usually fish with bait. I'm thinking of using more plugs and jigs this year. haha some help i am, Just bored at work...

Research has shown that stripers are pre-disposed to react to chartreuse more quickly than other colors. Other fish react to other colors. On the Chesepeake they say "if it ain't chartreuse it ain't no use".

Thanks guys, I ended up caving on the order and bought both. (and yes I have too many plugs, its a weakness)

Its the Lucky Craft Pointer 128 (5") 1oz, nice action and a weight transfer system. With 20' braid I can get them to the end of the jetty. They run at about 5+' and suspend. Made for freshwater they use Gamakatsu hooks - super sharp/sticky, that I should trade out for something stronger.

Last summer I tried out the 128 in Ghost Minnow color at mid day off the beach. 1st cast a 2lb blue, 2nd a 17inch fluke. Not bad. I am going to give try these two new colors for stripers this spring. If they don't catch, I'll move them into the freshwater bag for LMB and Northerns.

I do wish that Lucky Craft would make some plugs for saltwater striper fishing (beefier). They make nice plugs, a little pricey for plastic but well designed.
