97 Nissan Altima 120,000 miles, having a weak start problem. replaced the battery last year, i am getting 13 volts withthe car off and 14.5 with it running. the brake light and battery light come on at the same time and after a few minutes both go off ( i googled that and it says thats an alternator code) but then why would i be getting 14.5 volts?

What do you mean by weak start? Lots of cranking before engine fires up or starter not turning as fast? I wonder if 14.5v is to high and its killing the battery??

Measure the batter terminal voltage with the engine off and turn on the headlights. Also try measuring for any voltage drop between the battery cable terminals and battery terminals. If you have a good connection for each post the voltage should be 0volts. If the terminals are not clean there will be a ohmic contact or small resistance causing a small voltage drop between the battery post and cable clamp.
