bigflies
the material wrapped on the hook shank is some kind of flash. not mylar. a lot of people think its mylar, but its really polyester and/or some kind of plastic. the normal use for mylar is the film industry. just a thought. by reading this short message you have allowed me brief control of your mind. Jim Miller
The hook shank is wrapped with flashabou and then a thin hackle palmered forward. Not so clean as on a bigger tie. But fills in the body with no weight or bulk. I did a silverside last year that was bigger and looked better.... http://www.stripersonline.com/surfta...d.php?t=657288

I'm looking forward to seeing more, especially your steelhead flies! Thanks for sharing! Life is too precious to fish ugly flies.

Jim Miller
Hey Sax...long time....you were offline for a while too? looking forward to the energy you inject to the board. Yup...I too enjoy all ties...fresh, salt and salmon/steelie. I did notice some very nice trout flys being posted up...neat! Skiharder: Yes...tie in flash (flashabou, tinsel, crystal flash) and hackle at bend. bring thread forward towards eye. wind flash forward and tie off. Palmer hackle forward and space winds for desired bulk. Tie off at eye.
