the material wrapped on the hook shank is some kind of flash. not mylar. a lot of people think its mylar, but its really polyester and/or some kind of plastic. the normal use for mylar is the film industry. just a thought.

Yup...I too enjoy all ties...fresh, salt and salmon/steelie. I did notice some very nice trout flys being posted up...neat!

 

Skiharder: Yes...tie in flash (flashabou, tinsel, crystal flash) and hackle at bend. bring thread forward towards eye. wind flash forward and tie off. Palmer hackle forward and space winds for desired bulk. Tie off at eye.
