pending new world record bass

31 posts in this topic

don't know if this has been posted before but there is a pending new world record largemouth awaiting IGFA certification. The fish was caught in July in Japan. Fish weighed 22 lbs 5 oz and would share first place with Perry's bass as it was only an ounce heavier. Need to be 2 ounces heavier to actually take over the top spot

The unofficial WRB was caught on a live Japanese Koi (also known as carp) in the southern area of Lake Biwa called Nanko. The fish was caught and landed on a Deps Sidewinder The Dom Driver F/E Rod and TORAY Super Hard Strong 25lb line. After trying to keep the fish alive in a live well the fish unfortunately passed away and is now frozen awaiting certification.

here is a short video of the catch

The IGFA is stating the fish has to be alive which it was not & has to be 2 ozs heavier to qualify again it was not!

After 77 years, 7 months and 6 days, it may finally be here - a new world record largemouth bass, the most sought after sportfish in the world. Bassmaster.com will have live video from International Game Fish Association headquarters in Dania Beach, Fla., as the decision is announced this Friday, Jan. 8, at 1:30 p.m. ET. Stay tuned for bass fishing history.
