K so last year my husband went fishing and caught this. It looks to me to be a shark, but what kind of shark. He caught 3 of them all at different times. He was fishing off a dock on Whidbey Island in Washington State. I thought the only sharks we had here were 6 gill sharks, but this isn't one of those. Can anyone tell me what this is?

View PostOMG they have spiney dogs on the west coast too! They are attacking us on both fronts!

We have them in alaska , when the hooligans(candlefish) get washed out of the river mouths back into the saltwater look out, dogs by the billions.cwm31.gif

A lot of people don't like dogfish because they bite their salmon leaders and such clean off but if you use a wire double hook drop rig and a bit of herring you'll catch enough to wear you out if you find their schools.  I take friends out targeting dogfish and flounder all of the time just because you can catch scores and it's a blast!  Not to mention they're great eating when you fry them up :)  That's about the common size but not and then you'll get lucky and pull them in around 5' and those boys give you a great fight! Tight lines!
