Gross Chimney, Makeover Ideas.

The chimney for the oil burner, was resleeved about 4 years ago so sticking out of the flue is about 4 inches of round pipe and a round cover and screen. Ugly! Adding to that, the chimney is stained with an oily soot from the previous burner and hot water heater. So, what to do that won't break the bank? Paint the chimney? Add something to the top? Surround the chimney with the same siding as the house?

Thanks Guys.

Pete

Plant bamboo to hide the mess...then use the shoots to poke yourself

in the eye so you can't see the chimney...I did the same thing to my friend who was complaining of noisy neighbors...I poked him in the ear canal!

Thanks Bob, I'm going to try the powerwash first as I'd like the furnace chimney to match the fireplace one as bare brick. If I can't get the stains off Benny's it will be. I was wondering if there is some kind of masonry top I can hide that ugly round flue pipe with?

Eastlake: That bamboo thing is a little strange even for me. kooky.gif
