I just read about this in a car magazine, they gave it an excellent review.

Anyone used it yet?

They are $5

"While you may not be a world-class rifleman or have the qualities and skills that define a "great" fisherman, you still probably want your sporting equipment to be in the best condition possible to get you that much closer to success, that 8-Point Buck, Brown Trout or Turkey. Equipment that's rust-free and ready for the job when you are.

callout_76532491.jpgNow there's the 3-IN-ONE® No-Rust ShieldTM Rust & Corrosion Inhibitor. Rust is relentless, but placing the 3-IN-ONE No-Rust Shield in any enclosed space will combat rust before it starts. Metal-seeking Vapor Phase Corrosion Inhibitors (VpCI) migrate through an enclosed space to form an invisible layer that seals metals against air and moisture that can cause rust and corrosion -- for up to 90 days! It's odorless, easy-to-use and has a unique time gauge that indicates when it's time to replace the unit.

Each unit protects 2 cubic feet, but more can be used if you have a larger enclosed area like a gun safe or large tackle storage box. Its 3MTM CommandTM Strip allows for easy mounting and removal."

Use it in any enclosed space with metals including:

  • Gun Case or Safe

  • Tackle Box

  • Boat/RV Compartments

  • Toolbox

  • Truck Bed Box

Same idea as the new Flambue boxes. The plastic emitts some kind of vapor that help prevent rust. I think there was an article in SWA a few months back on the different products being made with this stuff.

read this thread and the thread about rinsing plugs...

it is AMMONIA that i heard which neutralizes salt corrosion...

a reel repairer i know uses it...

he says he will submerge reel parts in it...

and after 5-15 minutes you will see the AMMONIA turn a Windex blue...

that is the AMMONIA and the salt neutralizing...

VINEGAR also works...

so if we all kept a gallon of AMMONIA or VINEGAR on hand...

or better yet a spray bottle...

SHINY HOOKS AND REELS FOR ALL!!!

one thing is for sure...rinsing with fresh water alone DOES NOT work...

sure it will dilute it...but to hault corrosion...you must neutralize it...

next time you wash a boat down thoroughly...look at all the salt left behind when it dries...wipe your hand along the hull...it will amaze you...
