I'd like to introduce myself first and foremost.

I'm Artin, I live in the Los Angeles area in Ca.

Well to give you a little insight about how I came across this forum...

I had a buddy of mine here who is a Long Island native that moved out here a few years back.

He was always talking about fishing for stripers on the east coast so we decided to call him out on it!! last October to take a week long trip to Montauk!

That was that a bad decision!!! Some of us are hooked!

I got to actually see what all the fuss was about and I must say... he wasn't kidding. Its not fuss! Its amazing!!

My fiance came along as well. The blitsez where out of this world!!! You guys have it good!

Well, I didn't get into any stripers, although the false albies and blues kept me busy. But my fiance managed the stripers!

What a fun time it was.

It has been on top of my list for this year and next, and the one after that!....

Turns out that I will be there in NY for a convention Aug. 9 - 11th.

I want to see if its worth me elongating my stay for a few days and fish.

How is the striper fishing in this time frame,

What options do I have?

Here is some fish porn for your pleasure from October,

Any info will help.

Thanks guys,

Artin

Hi Chicky,

I will be in Manhattan,

I can drive to LI though if need be. Pretty much drive anywhere within 2 - 3 hours and stay for a day or two. Depending on fishing.

There's always fish to be had around the Island. Mostly bluefish and bass at first light or low light conditions. But don't expect anything like October blitzes in Montauk that time of year. You won't get skunked if that's what your asking. Some of the guides run short before work trips around first light and that's the one I'd take if I was in your shoes.
