Re ports are coming in that there is still a horde of stripers located near Duck, NC, and inshore, but accessible only by boat.

That's a 42mi run south from Rudee Inlet, Va.

Lastest report was they were in the majority 38-40" and very accessible, feeding on large bait pods with beehives of seagulls over 'em. Fish were so thick at one point that they were literally rolling on the surface, and that the anglers went to light tackle casting instead of their usual trolling.

Water temperature and baitfish are the keys to analyzing where fish might be. As the water temps decline, it drives the forage out of the shallow back bays into channels and eventually the Atlantic Ocean. For predator fish to hold in an area, they gotta have food. Most of the shallow waters of the mid-atlantic coast and tribs are too cold now, to hold the forage fish . When the food source moves, the big stripers follow them.
