Discoveries and Rediscoveries

2 posts in this topic

2nd year in the yak but do not get to go too often and just freshwater on quiet ponds so far.

At 55 years old and new to the boat/yak as I fished most of my life with a low budget approach (read shore and wading fishing).

So anywho..... I was out on a smallish trout pond (under 60 acres) recently and even though its set in a partial bowl of sorts by the land formations surrounding it there was a north west wind varying between 12 to 15 mph or so.... remembering how the wind pushes insects and other bait, even in a pond, I let myself be taken into a small cove area of sorts. The pond is mostly 20 to 30 feet deep but has a thin margin of 10 foot water at its edges with a bit of 40 and some 50 foot water.

Long story short the trout were all about the area the wind took me. Moving, taking insects on top, chasing minnows, feeding then not but back again in short time.

Caught many nice fish. smile.gif
