Surfrat666
Did anyone ever notice the two seen's with shooting stare's in the back ground, well thats what they look like anyway. Shooting stars I believe you meant...Yep I've seen shooting stars in other spielberg movies as well...makes me wonder whether they added that as a "signature" item for Spielberg or if they were real and just captured on the camera. - Scott... a.k.a The Rat (wrapped in Bacon)

Answers my own question: According to The Making of Steven Spielberg's 'Jaws' (1995) (V) documentary, the shooting star that appears during the night scene where Brody loads his revolver was real, not an optical effect. - Scott... a.k.a The Rat (wrapped in Bacon)
FishHeart
I watched it on that date also. If you remember Quint's monologue about the U.S.S. Indianapolis he tells you the date of the occurrence (June 29, 1945). The exact date 54 years ago. I just thought that was a cool coincidence
Jameson
When they are loading the boat and the chief is saying goodbye to his wife... In the background you can hear Quint growling (something like) "Back, aft. Front, forward. If you don't get it right I'll throw you out the little round window on the side!" Front, bow Back, stern JC ...where ignorance is bliss, 'Tis folly to be wise.---------------------------------------------Thomas Gray (1742)
Ditch Jigger
I watched it on that date also. If you remember Quint's monologue about the U.S.S. Indianapolis he tells you the date of the occurrence (June 29, 1945). The exact date 54 years ago. I just thought that was a cool coincidence Except that the Indianapolis was torpedoed on July 29. Shaw was hammered filming that scene and screwed up the date The fact that all three actors had a few before they filmed it was what really made that scene special "…if catching fish is your only objective, you are either new to the game or too narrowly focused on measurable results.” - D. joerosa1
I remember the day so clearly when my father and I took the subway train to a theater in Brooklyn to see the movie as a young kid. I remember jumping so high off my chair on the scenes when the shark came out the water and him laughing. It was so good we remained in the theater and saw it twice (you could do that back then). I happen to see it on HBO as well, it still remains a classic and seem to get better with age. ~ Your husband's fine, Mrs. Brody. He's fishing. He's just caught a couple of stripers. We'll bring 'em in for dinner. We won't be long, we haven't seen anything yet. Over and out.~ -Quint
Ebbtide231
Thanx Jameson We were on my uncle's boat for the week. Docked at Captain's Marina in Montauk. We saw the movie in the Amagansette movie theater. When we got back to the boat, my cuzzin's girlfriend decided to sleep in the car. That night, after every one was asleep, my uncle's buddy who was moored along side of us, started hitting the hull of our boat with a rubber mallet. I jumped up and smashed my head on the top of the V-bunk. We were all kind of happy when we woke up to fog... No one was ready to go trolling off the sub buoy that morning. Ahhhh.... Memories. FishHeart
I was going by the monlogue given by Quint. I took it as the actual story. I did know that he was hammered most of the time during filming. I checked with wikipedia and found this "After delivering critical parts for the first atomic bomb to the United States air base at Tinian on July 26, 1945, she was in the Philippine Sea when attacked at 00:14 on July 30, 1945 by a Japanese submarine. The ship sank in 12 minutes. " Even with that mistake it's one of my favorites of all time. I'm constantly quoting that movie much to my family's dismay. And so nevermore shall we see you again. I told my wife to guess what movie this song is from, sang the 1st verse, and she said Jaws before I got it out, lol. God love that woman.
