my buddy gave me an old Delta Rockwell 46-200 lathe

just the main beam and the two ends

no stand, motor or tool rest

anybody know of a good source for parts?

i can build a base for it and pick up a motor

i can probably make a tool rest from hardwood that would work well enough

i don't want to buy 17 shaping tools if i only need a few

anybody?

Buy good quality chisels. The inexpensive ones get dull really fast.

There are plenty on Delta Rockwell parts available. I bought parts for my 25 year old thickness planer just last year. I've gotta think lathe parts are easy to find too.

View PostWhat horse motor Ya looking for?

I have a couple 1/2 hp here that one might work for you. lmk!

1/2 HP i have- the guy who gave it to me suggested 1 HP

a bit of googling revealed a 1.2 as standard motor size- i think i should get 3/4 minumum

I'll double check what I've got. There may be something in the pile with some more ooomf!Maybe 3/4H 5/8 shaft.

Give me a day or 2 and I'll get back to this.

If you do outboard turning of bowls and other things, then you should have a larger motor than 1/2. If you are just turning plugs then 1/2 hp. is more than enough.
