Fishing Duck 7/13 - 7/20

Gentlemen, last year I fished the beaches of Duck the week of July 4th. I mostly went in the late afternoon and didn't have much luck until one afternoon a big school of 14- 16 inch blues came into the beach and I had the time of my life just catching and releasing chomper blues for an hour or so. My question is what else can I do to catch more fish. What would you recommend as far as rigs, bait, time of day, tides, etc. I know this month and time is one of the worst. Also, are there sharks from the surf at night? Thank you in advance for any help!

I've caught flounder along the Duck beaches in August. Just use a lighter spinning rig (7' - 71/2' rod). You can bounce a Gulp on a jig head across the bottom or a smaller gold hopkins (1 oz or less) will work with the same general technique. Try fishing up around the Observation Pier.
