Help - Matching a Reel to New Rod

Rate this topic

1 post in this topic

So I was driving in my neighborhood and a guy has a few rods on his front yard for sale, so how could I drive by without stopping (fortunately, my wife was not with me - who does not understand why I have so much fishing stuff)!!!

I bought a graphite Penn CT 79H one piece (rated for 12-30 lb line), but have not been able to find out any information on-line about this rod. One site had a two piece model listed as a Sabre Salmon / Steelhead Rod.

"Action Designed Exclusively for Salmon & Steelhead Fishing. These Sabre rod models are designed expressly for specialized salmon and steelhead techniques such as mooching, plugs, bait and more. These rods feature lightweight, sensitive graphite composite blanks, premium aluminum oxide guides, graphite reel seats and select quality cork grips."

Does anyone have this particular rod or know anything about it? What would be a good reel to match to this rod? And could I still use it for striper/surf/jetty/pier fishing?

Thanks in advance for your help and information! beers.gif
