You don't want to listen do you! I told you what to do in your 1st post but I guess you'll have to learn the hard way! You have a whole lot to learn.It's not like spinning or bait casting.It's a whole different world.

Ok if you lost 8 flies to the same tree, then I am guessing the fishing at that point must be great or why perservre. If you want a simple anawer then just pace out from where you are standing and fishing to the tree with the fly in your hand and leaving your rod on the bank. Take the fly to the tree and stop one foot short. That becomes your working length of line. All depends on how close that tree is and the spread of the branches. Sometimes no kind of cast is going to bail you out if the fish are some ways from the bankside. Admit defeat or continue to donate flies to that tree if you have an impossible situation.
