Tilefishing with the Codlione

Got an e-mail from Raekwon who returned from a Golden Tile trip out of South NJ on Wednesday night. HEre is what he sent to me:

"Got to break in the codlione yesterday on some nice golden tiles. The blank performed great, it handled the 24-32oz of lead I was using and it fought the fish very well and I was able to get them moving up off the bottom much easier than some other people. Can't wait to get back out, especially now that I have a combo (ocea jigger/codlione) that I feel is ideal for this fishing."

I love reading stuff like that, since I'll never get out and Tilefish myself, I can tell when a certain rod is "right", but without actually fishing it you never really know. Quite a few guys are using the Codliones for Cod jigging, and one mad an appearance down in NC for Grouper fishing last weekend although tehy didn't catch anything of size on it, it's still light enough (completed rod is 17.5oz) that it's not overpowering on smaller fish.
