Cooking with wood...

Nemesis' "Weber " thread motivated me, so instead of using my gasser to grill a chicken, I built a fire in my smoker (not in the offset box...right in the smoker box) using wood...locust I think, and cooked the chicken that way instead. I had to hold it off to the side a bit, and prop open the lid. Took a little longer but resulted in a nicely cooked bird that the family couldn't tell the difference. cwm13.gif

Honestly, I don't mind gasser chicken. Unless it really gets some smoke put to it there's not a huge difference. Weber kettle/charcoal still seems to give me the best crispy skin but probably only because I'm used to using it.
