Siwash Question

It isn't always. I've seen lure makers use other types of hooks on the tails of plugs. Siwash works well, though, with the straight shank and they're sold open eye a lot, also a plus.

A lot of older plugs used short shank O'Shaughnessy's. Some how the manufacturers got away from using them. I don't know if it was a cost thing. headscratch.gif

I didn't think about the open eye. That makes sense.

So often do I read on here about the replacement of hooks using Siwash, that I thought they were superior in their hooking ability or something like that. I was actually thinking about ordering a bunch for freshwater.

Thanks.

I am not a plug builder, but I thought the hook symetry thing played a part.

No offset and round bend, I thought that might help them swim straight and was part of the reason for using them??? Could be wrong, like I said i am not a builder.

IMO they look so fragile, like that long thin point would bend in a heartbeat.
