View Postcan't see the video from here.

What is the jist of it?

Jim Cramer talking about the market, and when he was a Hedge Fund manager and manipluating the market.

here are some quotes, but the full video puts it all in context. I just don't understand how some of what he is talking about can or should be legal??

"A lot of times when I was short at my hedge fund, and I was positioned short, meaning I needed it down, I would create a level of activity before hand that could drive the futures,"

Talking about making a stock appear down:

"You can't foment. That's a violation... But you do it anyway because the SEC doesn't understand it." He adds, "When you have six days and your company may be in doubt because you are down, I think it is really important to foment"

"What's important when you are in that hedge fund mode is to not be doing anything that is remotely truthful, because the truth is so against your view - it is important to create a new truth to develop a fiction"

yes. if this is the accurate definition of "painting the tape" then that sound like what he was describing. He talked about Apple stock, and the iphone in 2006. How he would sspread a rumor that At&T and verizon (even though he said he knew it might not be true) and how they didn't want the iphone, then he would call other fund managers and tell them the info and fuel the rumor that neither company wanted the iphone.....

Paint the Tape Definition

The illegal practice in which traders buy and sell a specific security among themselves, creating the illusion of high trading volume and significant investor interest, which can attract unsuspecting investors who might then buy the stock and enable the traders to profit.

To me it sounds like Jim Cramer is talking about hedge funds and investment bidding and take overs over pacific hedge funds by getting control of the fund. He sounds like he is differenciating his speach trying to get others into the investors into the funds. It also sounds like they are hot funds because he is tring to just get enough investors and not to many into this fund. Too many investors will cut profits for the investors, so he is talking clearly as he could without jeopardising the investment by over attracting too many investors.headscratch.gifheadscratch.gifheadscratch.gif. I sound worst than the video I thinkbeers.gifkooky.gif.
