Scuffing before final coat?

Who sprays a clear coat and then scuffs it before the final coat? I've read about it and was doing it for a bit but I stopped doing it thinking it might be an unnecessary step. I've also heard the thought that the spray clear may yellow under the epoxy. What do you guys do?

I tried it for a bit and found that it really did not matter. I know some builders like to use some type of scuff coat over the first paint so they can add details like gills, dots, etc afterwards and redo if need be rather than having to strip the whole plug. Something that each builder has to try before they know if it will work for them.

I only started building plugs last year, and use a scuff coat of clear, and none of the plugs have yellowed yet. As Jigman stated it's nice because if you mess up some details, you can clean them and start over.
