In the late 60's-early 70's I fished the Brewster Flats off Paines Creek Beach and caught many schoolies on light tackle. Has anyone fished there in recent years? as Paines Creek is the beginning of the Herring run up to the Brewster Grist Mill has anyone fished the entrance to the creek at high tide had any luck? looking to make a trip down in May for some shore fishing.

Depends on the year! Last season was pretty slow and the Herring run was weak in Brewster. Always Schoolies out there and as most spots on the Cape last year, early was better and summer/fall sucked!

Around Columbus day of 07 my son and I had some good light tackle fishing in a creek, not Paines but in the area wink.gif. We caught a good number of fish to about 32" a considerable distance into the creek, there were a lot of small herring that year and it was pretty much non stop on schoolies with a few keeper sized mixed in.

This was late at night around the high turn. Last year at the same location was a bust, at least for us. I saw very few juvenile herring and we only caught a couple very small fish.
