Penobscot river smallmouth

2 posts in this topic

what can I expect in the Penobscot river around Greenbuck in early August targeting smallmouth?

will there be grass in the water? will tubes work or is there too much grass? when is grass the worst?

what will work better than tubes?

Is the grass present all year? does it leave before fall?

Do jet boats choke on the grass?

Obviously I don't care for grass.

Thanks

I fished there about 5or6 years ago just north of Orono. My son went to college there (U. Maine). We waded the shoreline and caught lots of smalleys and some pickerel. My son caught his largest smallmouth there over 6 lbs. There was some eel grass like vegetation there but I didn't see any over abundance of it where we fished. We fished the end of Aug. beginning of Sept.. My experience is limited there so I can't say what the rest of the river is like.
