what size hooks for bunker or clams

For me, it depends on where and when I'm fishing. I go a little smaller with clam in the back (4/o to 6/0), large for bunker out front (6/0 to 8/0). Throwing heads calls for the biggest hooks in my book (10/0), as I want enough of the hook to be able to penetrate and hook that moby linesider that's waiting out there for me.

Big Bunker Chunks: Toss a fishfinder on your main line. Tie to a swivel then tie a 12" piece of line from the swivel to the hook 10/0 hook. That will get you the most casting distance out of your big chunks.

Whole clams - Same thing except change the line length to 2-3 feet. 2 feet if I am wading in the back bays, 3 feet in the surf.

Half clam - 3 way swivel rig w/ 36" (3ft)

^^

i agree, 6/0 for half, 8/0 for whole clam.

and, 8/0 for chunk, and 8/0 or 10/0 for head.

i dont agree with the 2-3' leader. i use more like 6-8" regardless

4/0-5/0 for clam tongues (bait holders).

5/0-6/0 for whole clam (bait holders).

7/0-8/0 for Bunker Chunks (Circles).

9/0-10/0 for Bunker heads (Circles).

I use a 15' of 40lb Triple Fish leader also.

I am a firm believer in circle hooks, just wondering about brand, Is Gamakatsu the standard? Also, can I attach a green Fish Finder Directly to my #50 PP or do i need a shock leader?
