Anyone scrap their land line phone?

The wife and I are thinking about it, as it seems the only calls we get on our land line phone are telemarketers. I hear that Verizon is so desperate that they are offering a $5.00 a month plan that allows the phone owner to receive calls and dial only 911.

If I could get a good cell connection here, I would drop it in a heart beat.

Even with a yagi antenna on the house for my cell, I can barely get a signal. I've tried several carriers and it's the same. Something about the topography. I can walk down the street and get 2 or 3 bars but here, I have trouble turning it on and getting it to set the right day and time.....

Connection is much better on a land line alot of times.I like to make important phone calls from a land line so I don't risk interuption.I always seem to be like"hello , you there ??let me call you back on the house phone."

My wife and I got two cell phones 6 years ago with two numbers. Kept our land line for two months and then got rid of it. Has never been a problem and never regretted it. Why pay $28-35 for the privilege of having a phone. I now use one of the cell phones as my business phone and that has not been a problem. I would recommend it to anyone that has good cell service. I have had Alltel all this time, which was recently bought be Verizon. Will see if service is downgraded.
