Hello Everyone, I'm planning a trip to Key Largo and was wondering if there are any areas to go surf fishing? Not interested in paying for a guide, or a private charter... maybe wade out a bit in the flats but more interested in surf or back bay fishing that I'm accustomed to.

I'll be traveling light, maybe a 9" travel surf rod (1/2-2oz lure rating)

Oh I'll be out there in the beginning of May.

If you guys know, can you PM me a MM location and I can go from there... I'll be there with a few friends for a weekend, maybe we can meet up and grab some drinks! beers.gif

In Tavernier (other end of the same rock) there is Harry Harris Park off Burton Drive MM 92.6. They get $5 a head on weekends for non county residents. If you go as far to the right as you can drive, you can park and get through the mangroves and then wade out and cast into the ocean. It is a big flat. The water never goes below 75 that close to shore, so do not bring waders. People tell me there are bonefish there in the A.M., all I ever got were some barracuda., but then I was flyfishing.

Peace

Thanks so much RedJeep. I'll surely check that spot out... i might even fish the flats too... it's all light tackle... Cuda's are always a good catch in my book, bones will be a bonus.
