I arranged a cod jigging charter with 29 die-hard cod jig fishermen on the Walsh's out of Lynn, Ma yesterday and We had an excellent cod jigging including 71 lbs by Capt Tim Tower of the Bunny Clark and 62 lbs cod by Bob Nixon. We drifted all day and nobody touched baits. smile.gif

View PostToo bad I already had a Montauk trip scheduled and couldn't make it. A few jumbos would have been preferrable to barely double digit schoolies in a screaming current.

I was surprised you cancel my charter and chose Montauk cod. smile.gif

When I saw Montauk size cod coming up the rail, I asked Capt Jim to move. smile.gif

A previously scheduled engagement with a good friend who has moved to Long Island. I'd much rather drive to Mass then through the Hamptons at 30mph in the fog. Even if the fishing was the same, I'd still rather not drive to Montauk. If my MD tog charter is rescheduled, I will make it to Mass somehow in late Feb/early March.

Sorry you coudn't fish us. How did you make out out of Montauk ? I don't have immediate plan to arrange a cod charter soon.

I can go only once a week now and I go down to NC for grouper or offshore seabass/tile fishing off Cape May, NJ when I can find time.

Good cod fishing ususally doesn't last long.

I hope you have a good tog trip out of Maryland, but water temp is not good now.

Sorry I missed that one. Looks like a great trip. American Classic is a great boat and Jim is a nice guy who fishes hard. And to top off a great catch, you had a beautiful day.

The trip was good we ended up with 30 fish for me and a friend, we tried to stick with the jigs but we snag more than we hooked so we switch to clam because some fish were shorts and if they were snaged in the belly they wouldn't live so hence the switch.

The only problems were 25 of the 33 people never did it before which made the day very frustrating with tangles, but the capt and crew were top notch in my book.

Has the Helen-H been out because I want to book 3 trips in the next 2 weeks and get back to jigging again.
