Tip of the Week - Feb 10

Here's one from me;

Don't be afraid to subsitute materials on patterns. The sub might not always work out as well as the prescribed material, but sometimes you stumble across something that works even better. You could drive yourself crazy flipping through tying magazines, books, and websites compiling lists of materials you need to go buy.

I am by no means understating the design work that goes into fly patterns. My suggestion is only that sometimes you can make do with what you have. Necessity IS the mother of invention icon14.gif .

If you have a tip to share for the tip of the week please PM me. We can all learn from your knowledge smile.gif .

I agree about the substitutions. I have to do this quite often. I cannot always get every material on a recipe. Make do with what ya got. I only have a little space, and even less money, so substitution happens a lot in my tying program...LOL.
