Tracer rounds. Ricochet?

Something I've always wondered about when watching war videos...525

Are all of the tracers bouncing off the target indicative of the number of rounds that ricochet? Or is it that, (in most cases), the pyrotechnic is just being dislodged from the bullet and bouncing up?

An example:

we just shot over 150,000 rounds this week through M240's and M249's. the tracers do dislodge and go flying. some come off early and do some cool stuff through the air.

and getting hit in the chest by the spring from the 240 Bravo with the bolt to the rear hurts like a *****... biggrin.gif

If you shoot from the sitting position, put something in front of your nuts to keep the HOT spent shells from getting under them.cwm27.gif

It is not a real good idea to place ones bare hands on Barrell of 50 cal after a couple good burst of 50-75 rounds each burst, Flesh when burning stinks . No not me, a rear echelon wooden desk commando showed us how to do it .
