My State Representative wants to charge people for using paper and plastic bags at the supermarket. 5 cents a bag. You've gotta be kidding me. This state is ridiculous. They tax and slow bleed everyone.

I'm all for ZERO WASTE programs.

That will encourage people to bring their own bags

or use re-useable bags and put an end to all those

plastic bags that people thoughtlessly throw away.

Ikea charges extra for bags...

but it's is a voluntary act on the corporations part icon14.gif

A small step towards corporate responsibility.

$0.05 a can seems to have eliminated quite a lot roadside trash. Although I despise the deposit law it seems to work

Exactly!

And guess what...

returns for deposits are UP, way up since the economy took a dive.

This prolly shouldn't be a legislative isssue

but corporations and too many citizens just don't seem to care enough.

This is how meems are born cwm27.gif "Reich-Wing"

Corporations are nothing but the sum of their parts, ie. board of directors.

Typically, those people appear amoral and rarely demonstrate

any social conscience. Hence, they appear socially irresponsible

and their actions as a corporate entity usually reflect their disposition.

I'm not against plastic per say.

In fact I'm looking into a micro enterprise

specializing in recycling particular classes of plastic locally.

Just processing raw recycled plastic to then be sent to a local manufacturer.

Problem is when a business sells you something in packaging that

cannot be conveniently, efficiently and affordably recycled.
