a few darters

I decided it was time to learn darters. I really haven't fished them as often as I should, so I decided next year would be the 'year of the darter' for me.

Anyways, here's a few I've been working on. These are the color schemes I fish the most, except for a black one which had epoxy problems...

These are sealed w/ hangers, and are 6 1/2 " and 2.5 oz...

How far down to they crank?

It depends on how hard you crank & how much current there is. I was testing in flat calm water and at a crawl they were down 1-2 feet, if you reeled a little faster its 3-4, add current they go deeper but it really depends on the current and where I fish there's lots of it.

I was testing one prototype in some current and it dropped right out of sight. It was too light (under 2 oz) for what I wanted but I will make some more specifically to go down deeper.
