Solar panels are the easiest way to augment our heat up north.

Developed over thirty years ago and still very expensive. Passive hot air can be cheep and easy and still plans , usage not very common.headscratch.gifheadscratch.gifheadscratch.gif

Typical liberal: symbolism over substance. As sjog says, solar power is very expensive via vis most standard power producing sources or else we would all be doing it, wouldn't we?

Carter was trying to show "alternatives" to oil because OPEC was making him look like a total fool, which he was. Token symbolism but, of course, sporty buys it. The sheep always do.

Carter also created the Dept. of Education, a real boondoggle if there ever was one. Carter was the worst president of my lifetime and Reagan the best.smile.gif

he banned solar panels?

How about this. How about he "removed solar panels" because he wanted US (you and me and the rest of the citizens of this wonderful country) to decide what we wanted. Instead of trying to force things on us.

symbolism is tearing down solar panels that were already installed......

yes they are expensive......

but they were already THERE.

show me the substance in wasting the solar panels.

I hope they got a PORTION of their value from someone.....

doesn't matter, Ronnie was all about symbolism.

and to be seen ripping them down and wasting them was what was important,

"We are Americans, we don't need to conserve, we take more than we need and throw away the rest".

View PostThere is so much assumption here, it's not even funny.

no it's funny......

Reagan's first act was to take those suckers down,

it was a symbolic act which displayed his values....

the fact that Knight then projects the symbolism onto the left is a hoot.

Sure it does matter.

I googled that "quote" and didn't get any reference to Reagan.

Did you just make it up?

Wow.....Could it be the cost of upkeep of the system was the deciding factor? I can show you 3 Wind Generators near me that have sitting doing nothing just for that reason. Lost count of Solar Water setups, though many of those went to the Scrap Yard when Copper was way up.

cwm27.gif

do you HONESTLY think it was?!!?

how soon after Ronny took office did those things come down?

and do you REALLY think he micromanaged expenses THAT well as to make such a decision on such a minor expense?

if ONLY he was able to run the nation like that.

we wouldn't be choking on his Debt.

Sportyguy33, you hit the nail on the head! If only Reagan had not taken down those solar panels ..... life would be good! Why not send a note to Obama and suggest that he re-install them and get all that good mojo flowing again. Damn, you guys in California are so smart!
