We pay for the Mfg. label. It reminds me of a time in early 1980's. I had an Alfa Romea Sports Sedan that needed power steering fluid. According to the manual, Alfa Romea was adamant about using their fluids ONLY! I am at the parts dept. at the dealership & I start to read the quart bottle & I see it was made by the Shell Oil Co. It turns out to be standard transmission fluid. The price was $27-$30 per quart!

Moral of Story... mad.gif

Mineral oil is a term for refined petroleum oils, of which there are many weights and formulations.

Likewise, synthetic teflon grease has many formulations, viscosities, temp ranges, etc. Also, IME, bike shops are one of the most expensive places to buy any grease or oil.
