swimming with a plug bag ?

ok..

i'm asking, when you swim, actually IN the water and changing plugs

do you have problems changing gear.

whats your procedure ?

I'm terrible for putting more than one plug in a bag section as are many others based upon whats seen on this forum.

Surely, a belt mounted system is impossible (its always under) and a shoulder bag when opened in swell or a run is surely exposed to stuff being washed out or floating away.

I'm just interested in tackle changes whilst IN the water.

How is it done (safely) without dropping stuff.

Thanks..

Do guys even do that? I always assumed the guys out there bobbing around in their wetsuits and actually fishing - skishing - while afloat were only throwing eels....headscratch.gif

You gonna give it a shot in the channel Keith?

Shoulder bag with a belt clip. When you want to change the plug pull the bag in front, choose plug, and then clip bag back to belt. Most of the time you will be using eels or bucktails tho..... it makes it easer

The bag that works well in swimming or deep wading (where the bag is submerged) is a med.aquaskinz bag. I've never lost a thing because of the bag. I also agree that clipping it to your belt is key- I do that on the rocks too. The only time I don't clip is on the open beach standing in ankle high water. The only other bag I trust to submerge would be a hunter, but I can't afford 300-400 bucks for a bag, but I think this is where the askinz bag excels.

Keith

Are you talking Skishing or swimming to a rock?

Both Ed.

Our SE coast is made for it.

Loads of runs, tons of catch rocks.

Downside is the japanese type weed in places

I would say, we'd mostly be talking rock hopping in suits though

at night.

kermic:

we have aquaskinz bags. they hold up real well for us.

SouthShoreCoffeeGrinder:

Bucktails ? YES

Eels...? well, live sandeels, yes live mackerel, yes..

Live Eels as in what you guys use....

Its in the pipeline but, we've never done it here....Yet.

Don,t laugh .I use a gallon plastic jug.Cut a smile on the opposite side that the handle is on.The smile should be high enough to bend the smile and insert the plug into a tube inside the jug.Strap through the handle for carrying. I no it sounds stupid and it could be embarrassing for the yuppie crowd BUT it works and dose not gain weight. Try it.

I use a wetsuit sometimes wile fishing but I dont swim and fish at the same time, I just go from rock to rock, but if I were to do that I would wear a fly fishing vest, or an assault vest.
