etrexuser
On my favorite lake in Southern California, I stumbled upon a very unique but consistent pattern of the school size stripers..2-4lber's. For starters, it involves a single lure...the Bomber Long A15. I have several that I purchased about 15 years ago and recently purchased more. What I notice is that the "newer" bombers rattle sounds like a bb in a tin can and the "older" bombers rattle sounds like a raisin in a tin can. Same swimming action, paint job, ect. The "older" being noticably duller sounding. I attribute this to the different plastics use, (back when Bomber was Bomber and not Pradco). I have started off with the "older" bomber and can hook 5 schoolies in a matter of 15 minutes and switch to the "newer" bomber and nothing for the next 20-30 minutes. Switch back to the "older" bomber and 5 more fish on 8-10 casts. I know the school is NOT leaving but turned off by this "newer" bb/tin can sound. The lure patterns are the same as are the hooks which I change before using. There are no other mods to the lure. I am wondering if others have witnessed such subtleties while fishing for stripers? MTKpointTH
i couldn't give you a definite answer but i think it might be like when ten guys are fishing in one spot, all with 1 1/2oz white bucktails w/ red prok rinds and one guy casting the same distance as everyone else is catchin like crazy and nobody else is getting even a nibble. I guess the fish pick up on small details. This also might be like how trolling off shore if your boat has a strange humm to it you won't get any fish. 37.

I too would like to know more about this and why fish are picky or finicky to eat.. I have always wondered what bass think about or what bothers them and so forth. VERY INTERESTING! my older bombers see way more action than the new new bombers i've purchased this year, i prefer a clunky rattle than a bb in a can.. life is short . play hard
TheFishWhisperer
for me its everybody else is catching and i cant buy a bite. I mean ill be fishing in a group of 8 guys they'll all have bent rods but i got nothing. Then i start catching fish but nobody else catches anything. I think its that the fish are actively feeding but im reeling too slow( i reel slower than everybody around me) so my lures out of the strike zone but then the fish are done feeding and settle back to the bottom where my bucktail swims by and they hit it. fish and they will come
