Whats more important: Wind in your face or compass direction?

Hey there Guys & Gals! Ive been trying to figure out which is more important: Having the wind blowing in your face OR what compass direction is the wind out of for successful outings?

 

Lots of famous anglers say the wind in your face is the ticket but Ive had success when it was blowing out of another quadrant.

Then, too, Ive heard "East is Least...& West is Best" but have had succes when the wind was blowin hard out of the E, Nor'East or ENE.

 

So what's your experience?

 

Why do you think its so?
