ChocoLab
Hello all, Well I'm hooked (pun intended!)... Really getting interested in plug building, but first am starting with some rehabs and repaints of some oldies, and maybe santa will bring me some wooden kits to get going. Been doing lots of research here in this forum, and the weath of knowledge available is simply astonishing!! However, I've been unable to figure this one out. My dilema is this, I have a couple of old rebels that were my father's that I'd like to repaint. I've been able to sand/scrape down some older bombers/yozis but the rebels have the raised "scale" detail that sanding/scraping would ruin. How can a prep these for primer without sanding off that scale detail? Steel wool maybe? I've cleaned them thoroughly with rubbing alcohol, might that be enough then I can prime and paint? Thanks for leading me down this path to the dark side!!! DS

jdr724
http://www.stripersonline.com/surfta...bomber+repaint Found this, some guys say all the paint doesn't need to be removed, just the loose stuff? I'ld still like to know more for some old rebels too.
Winch
If the original paint is still on and is not all flaky just paint right over the old stuff. If the paint is flaky or needs to be removed try using lacquer thinner. Or just light sand the bumpy scale pattern off.
jdr724
WIll the solvents loosen what I guess is epoxy holding the lip in place? If so, will the 2 part 1 hour be enough to hold it back in?
