Spacing for ST. John's Curved on the Book

I'm working on a ST. John's Curved. And I'm scratching my head by looking at the spacing chart. I don't quite get how the numbers on the chart are so. To me, the spacing between C&D should be the spacing of B&C on chart "L", instead of "J".

I'm on the 4th pass right now, by following the spacing chart on the book. And it looks the gaps between C&D won't be filled when completed.

I look at other patterns, and their spacings make sense to me. But I don't get the spacing for the St. John's Curved and the reversed one on the same page. headscratch.gif

Unfortunately, there are a couple of errors, depending on which version of the book you have. Spacing Chart J is one of them. I asked a few people what to do about the errors, nobody had an answer, so I've tried to answer as many of the issues as possible, whetehr it be in public or private. IF you or anyone else has a method which I can handle known errors, I'm all ears.

HEre is a list of what I know to be wrong, s unfortuantely go in the book and write these changes in, as I dont' know what else to tell you:

  • Spacing Chart J should use Spacing Chart P (page 50, 60)

  • PAge 51 - St. J vari - Step A should say "BOX" instead of cross

  • PAge 52 - Spaced Star with a Flare & variation - TOTALLY wrong pattern and photos - I attached a photo of the correct page below

  • Page 53 - Sparkler - Step A & B is a Box In, not In +1. The phtos are correct, teh verbiage on the left is not.

  • PAge 63 - In - In + =- wrong photo

  • PAge 70 Circle Vari - Photos are corrent, teh words are not, it should say: (A & B) In +1....© Out....(D) In +1

  • PAge 2, the bullet poiunt #3, the next to last sentence of the paragraph I somehow deleted the following word after teh word THE..."pattern".
I apologize for these mistakes, and making you waste your time on this wrap. I hope someone has a suggestion how I can "fix" these problems on teh first 500 books I sold.

Hey Billy I think you can get a lot of them by posting just like you did here under its own subject line on as many boards and sites as you can. Tell everyone to right click, copy and paste to a letter to themselves. Then people can print it and slip it in the book on the appropriate page and wah la. Instant fix. I can hear you thinking, {who is this guy and what has he done with Doc Ski - the guy who barely knows how to email} biggrin.gif I have learned a little. cwm15.gif Let me know if I can help Billy

Doc, I thought about that - but what if the person doens't post? What to do when teh post falls off teh forum first page? I considered that in 2007 once I started finding these mistakes (not me, when others found them for me). I could have went and made teh corrections via posts back then, tomo would still have run into this problem because he wouldn't have seen it.

The only acceptable fix would be to not make the mistakes in the first place. Can't help that now.

You are right Billy you wont likely get everyone but at least you will get some of them. The popularity of your books has brought a lot more people to the net so I guess what I am saying is you can help as many as possible and hope the word spreads. Also you might send the corrections to your distributers so they can print addendums to send with the books(that is if you havent already) I will print some for the FHS and WCCRS with a note on the table to ask if they need them. I am sure between the net and shows you will be able to get the greatest portion of them.

View Postwhat the spacing for C&D will be?

I should probably be able to find out on my own. Assuming it's a (D) IN x4, the spacing will be like,

5 passes : C&D = 4mm

6 passes : C&D = 7.5mm

7 passes : C&D = 9mm

8 passes : C&D = 10 mm

9 passes : C&D = 11.5mm

10 passes : C&D = 12.5mm

11 passes : C&D = 14mm

12 passes : C&D = 15mm

TOmo, give me some time and I'll straighten that out. and verify the spacing chart is correct. D is NOT IN +1, it's out. It could be in+1, it will make the pattern look different though.

sorry. I don't know if you have Visualwrap, but if you go to The NERBs website, and look under stuff to buy, then visualwrap patterns, you'llsee a whole bunch of my "secret stash" of wraps and patterns.

Geez, where were you a year & a half ago? +1 is correct.

That wrap is only good on large diameter blanks imo. 15mm+. I've wrapped it twice on smaller diameter GUSA's, adn didn't like it at all - SW70H Plus was one of them, it's teh Fire Star (Rainbow & black) pattern on teh cover of the book, middle wrap on teh right side.

Any of the more complicated patterns with a lot of crossovers and points, almost require a larger diameter or it's really difficult to work on and the end result is so small you can't se teh detail. Take my opinion for what it's worth, an opinion - but I think the Combined patterns is too much for teh 711H.

I'll ship you taht Wahoo JR MOnday or Tuesday, got eth check today, thanks.
